Goldlen Bead Material vs Base 10

The Montessori golden bead material is base 10 math manipulatives.

In fact, I bought the golden bead material at Nienhuis in Holland. Also, at the factory store I  purchased additional base 10 material made from wood and printed with beads. When you introduce very large numbers, the golden beads get very heavy and impossible to carry on a tray. The wooden base 10 material really can teach the same concepts, and it is easy and much cheaper! My kids liked them a lot.

Here are some sets to consider-

The Base 10 stamp would be a help when transitioning to math problem symbols. It's a great visual reference for quantities.

Base 10 math manipulatives are great for teaching the basics of our math system. The 4 operations of math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) can be taught with golden bead material or base 10 cubes, also it is a great introduction to the decimal system.
