Sorting items is one of the first things your toddler does that helps with math and reading readiness. Sorting according to height prepares your child for penmanship, math skills of less and more, and sequencing. Use the blocks from smallest to largest to teach counting. Start with just a few blocks and add more as your child learns to count.
This activity is a materialized abstraction that is common in Montessori education. This would be a good extension for the red rods and brown stair.
