It's winter and I'm thinking about butterflies. We have a garden of milkweed for monarch butterflies that travel through Colorado. It's a wonder to watch the butterflies lay their eggs on the plants and watch the catepillars grow and endless eat. The LA Times has a great article about making your own milkweed gardent for the fragile Monarch Butterfly.
Monarch butterflies are known for the incredible mass migration that brings millions of them to California and Mexico each winter. North American monarchs are the only butterflies that make such a massive journey.
