I like the Math Counts series. They give great ideas to do at home. I would do some of the activities and later read the book to your child.
Sorting is a first activity for math readiness. You can sort buttons, pencils, beads, crayons silver ware, dishes, the list is endless. It's a great way to show "sets" and how things compare to each other.
Shapes are a first introduction to Geometry. Basic shapes, such as a circle, square and triangle can help your child find patterns.
