You can take a walk and collect seeds on your socks. Put on a large pair of wool or nylon socks over your child's shoes, adults can do this too. Take a walk in your garden, park, woods or in a field and brush against different plants. After your walk take some tweezers or small tongs and take off the seeds from your socks. A magnifying glass will help you find out why these seeds stick to your socks. Seeds that travel by hitchhiking sometimes have a sticky or rough outside that allows them to hang onto clothing or fur.
Sort and count the different types of seeds you collected.
