I have to admit that I had friends in England who started toilet training their six month old babies in the early 1970s. I thought it was because disposable diapers were so expensive. I didn't have any children at that time, so I didn't think much about it.
Early Potty Training brings back to mind the conversation I had with my pediatrician when my oldest was an infant. I asked him about potty training at age 6 or 7 months. He believed that you were potty training the parents, not the child. Many Montessorians believe that the sensitive period for toilet training is 18 months.
The most importanat aspect of potty training is to have a good attitude, make it fun, and don't stress out about it. Eventually everyone is toilet trained!
